COVID -19 AND THE LOCKDOWN SCENARIOS – George Dougan Writes .

The outbreak of the deadly COVID -19 in Ghana, has seen a lot of drastic measures taken by the government to help reduce the spread of this pandemic. A clear indication is the partial lockdown that was announced some weeks ago by the president and some form of restrictions well imposed on some notable areas within Accra,Kasoa and Kumasi.

The apparent reason for the lockdown was ultimately to check the spread of the virus within the communities. In light of these restrictions, some form of exemptions were allowed. The incessant abuse of these exemptions is a course to worry about as the reasons for the imposition of this lockdown will be defeated.

It is my fervent hope that the basic protocols would be observed to help stop the spread of the virus. – George Dougan

Having listened to some radio stations and watched a lot on TV, documentaries of these developments has prompted me to share my views on how important it is for the youth to obey these instructions in order to avoid incurring the wrath of security personnel who are monitoring human and vehicular movement.

The ultimate aim of every government is to see to the welfare of its citizens, therefore, it is of much importance for us as youth to obey this lockdown rules to protect ourselves from this enemy(COVID-19).

Let us, as citizens be watchful of our movement, let’s stay indoors and avoid going out to see what is actually happening on the streets when we have nothing to do outside the confines of our homes.

As the president said,

We know how to bring back the economy, but we do not know how to bring back the dead,” – Prez Akuffo Adddo

Let us remember that, we also know how to go out freely, but we do not know when and how we will bring to our homes the deadly COVID-19 virus.

As abled body youth and citizens of this country, I would like to encourage everyone to adhere to the basic protocols to help check the spread of this pandemic because developed countries across the globe are struggling to cope with this deadly virus.

Government’s swift intervention has really helped in fighting this pandemic. This is evident in the number of people infected with the virus, which is not out of hands, number of recoveries (83), number awaiting last test to recovery(17)out of a total number of 641 cases.

It is my fervent hope that the basic protocols would be observed to help stop the spread of the virus.

STAY AT HOME,STOP THE SPREAD…

  1. Hei, my Honourable Secretary. This is a wonderful piece. It’s not meant for the youth alone. We really really need to stay at home. God bless you.

  2. I’m so amused to have heard from a youth of this country on such a manner as to inform his fellow youth who are playing the recalcitrant. I wish and pray they heed to the advice from their brother. Well done George.
